Getting Sick Too Often?
Your Immune System Needs Fuel.

Your immune system is not a switch — it is a precision-calibrated defense network that runs on nutrients your body cannot stockpile indefinitely. Frequent illness, slow recovery, or that feeling of always being "almost sick" signals a system running on deficits. High-dose IV vitamin therapy delivers immune-critical nutrients — Vitamin C, zinc, glutathione, B-complex — directly into circulation at concentrations oral supplements cannot match.

Signs Your Immune System Is Depleted

The immune system's resource requirements are enormous — especially during active infection or high-stress periods. These signs indicate a system running below capacity.

🦁
Frequent infectionsGetting sick more than 3–4 times per year, or having illnesses that progress to secondary infections (sinusitis after a cold, bronchitis after flu) indicates compromised immune surveillance. The immune system has the capacity to neutralize most common pathogens before symptoms develop — when it's adequately resourced.
Prolonged illness recoveryA healthy immune response resolves most upper respiratory infections in 5–7 days. Illnesses that drag on for 2–3 weeks, or that require antibiotics when they shouldn't, point to impaired immune resolution — often driven by depletion of antioxidant nutrients (Vitamin C, glutathione) during the acute response.
💦
Slow wound healingWound healing requires Vitamin C for collagen synthesis, zinc for cell division, and glutathione for oxidative stress management. Cuts that take unusually long to heal, or wounds that become infected easily, indicate tissue-level nutrient deficits affecting the healing response.
💔
Chronic low-grade inflammationPersistent joint aches, ongoing fatigue, recurring skin issues, or frequent allergic responses may indicate immune dysregulation — not just deficiency. High-dose glutathione and Vitamin C are potent anti-inflammatory agents that help recalibrate overactive immune responses as well as bolster underactive ones.
😵
Post-illness exhaustionAfter a significant illness, many patients feel depleted for weeks — not because they are still infected, but because the immune response consumed vast quantities of nutrients that haven't been replaced. This post-viral fatigue state responds well to targeted IV nutrient repletion.
High-stress periodsPsychological and physiological stress dramatically increases cortisol, which suppresses multiple arms of the immune response. Patients going through major life stress, travel, overtraining, or sleep deprivation experience measurable immune suppression that correlates directly with increased infection risk.

Why IV Nutrients Work Differently

Oral vitamin supplements are limited by GI absorption. IV administration bypasses this ceiling entirely — achieving plasma concentrations that cannot be reached any other way.

01
Vitamin C: The Immune Workhorse
Vitamin C supports neutrophil function, natural killer cell activity, antibody production, and antiviral defense simultaneously. Oral Vitamin C is capped at approximately 200–500mg per dose before GI absorption becomes rate-limiting. IV Vitamin C achieves plasma concentrations 10–20x higher — concentrations shown in research to have direct antiviral and immune-stimulating properties not achievable through diet or oral supplementation alone.
02
Glutathione: Master Antioxidant
Glutathione is the body's primary intracellular antioxidant and a critical regulator of immune cell function. During infection, inflammation, or intense physiological stress, glutathione is rapidly depleted. Low glutathione impairs lymphocyte function, reduces natural killer cell activity, and increases susceptibility to oxidative damage. IV glutathione rapidly restores intracellular levels that oral supplementation cannot reliably achieve.
03
Zinc: Immune Regulation
Zinc is required for the development and function of virtually every arm of the immune system — T-lymphocytes, B-lymphocytes, natural killer cells, macrophages, and neutrophils all depend on zinc. Even mild zinc deficiency — common in Western diets — measurably impairs immune function. Zinc's role in limiting viral replication has been well-established, particularly for respiratory pathogens.
04
B-Complex: Energy for Immune Cells
Immune cells are metabolically demanding. B vitamins are cofactors in the energy production pathways that power lymphocyte proliferation, antibody synthesis, and phagocytic activity. B12 and folate are additionally required for DNA replication in rapidly dividing immune cells. B-complex deficiency limits the immune system's ability to mount a vigorous response — even when all other factors are adequate.
05
The Absorption Problem
Oral supplements face GI absorption limits, first-pass metabolism, and variable bioavailability. A person taking 1000mg oral Vitamin C absorbs perhaps 200–300mg before GI symptoms limit further intake. IV Vitamin C at 10,000–25,000mg delivers the full dose directly to plasma. This is not a marginal difference — it is a fundamentally different pharmacological intervention with different clinical effects.
06
Preemptive vs. Reactive Support
Immune IV therapy works best as both a reactive (acute illness or post-illness) and preemptive (before high-risk exposure, travel, or seasonal transition) intervention. Many patients schedule monthly or quarterly immune maintenance sessions to sustain optimal immune nutrient levels throughout high-demand periods — rather than waiting until illness strikes.

"In critical care, we learned quickly that immune function tracks with nutritional status. Patients who come into the ICU malnourished — even if they don't look it — have dramatically worse outcomes. The same principle applies at the outpatient level. People who are chronically stressed, sleeping poorly, eating inconsistently, or traveling constantly are running immune deficits that make them more susceptible and slower to recover. IV repletion is the fastest way to change that equation."

Immune IV FAQ

Yes — and for many patients this is the most impactful time to receive IV immune support. High-dose Vitamin C, hydration, and symptom relief (anti-nausea, pain management through our urgent care service) can significantly shorten illness duration and severity. Book through our urgent care line for same-day availability when you're acutely ill.
For maintenance: monthly or quarterly depending on your stress load, travel frequency, and how often you get sick. For acute illness: as needed at the first sign of symptoms. For high-risk periods (international travel, major events, seasonal transitions): one session 24–48 hours before exposure can meaningfully prime immune defenses.
High-dose IV Vitamin C has an excellent safety profile in properly screened patients. Patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency should not receive high-dose Vitamin C — this is a standard screening question at intake. Patients with kidney disease require assessment before high-dose protocols. Dr. Cordova reviews your history at intake to ensure appropriate protocols are used.
The Myers Cocktail is a specific formulation of Vitamin C, B-vitamins, magnesium, and calcium that has been used in IV therapy for decades. Our immune protocols use similar foundational nutrients but are formulated to our current evidence base and clinical experience. The key nutrients — high-dose Vitamin C, B-complex, zinc — are well-supported by the immune research literature.
